Why We Started:

In many parts of the world, women and children face preventable suffering. Mothers lose their lives in childbirth, and infants are denied basic healthcare simply because of poverty or distance. Witnessing this reality inspired Musa Shaikh to take action to build a place where care is not determined by wealth, but by need.
Thus, the Berkeley Middle East Mother & Child Health Centre was born a mission to restore health, dignity, and hope.
It began as a dream to serve the forgotten, but it quickly grew into a movement that unites doctors, donors, and volunteers under one shared purpose: to save lives and serve humanity.

Dr. Najam Sheikh

Najam Sheikh is an American national and is currently serving as Managing Director of the Healthcare Division at Berkeley Middle East. In this role, he provides strategic and operational leadership across healthcare investments, clinical operations, and growth initiatives, overseeing performance, governance, and long-term value creation within the division.

He brings to Berkeley Middle East a strong background in healthcare system transformation, post-merger integration, and executive leadership, shaped by senior roles within Mubadala Health and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

His work continues to focus on aligning clinical excellence with financial sustainability, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and developing leadership capability across healthcare organisations in the Middle East.
